Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data this website collects, why, and your rights under UK data protection law.

Who we are

Four Rivers Development is the trading name of a UK-based sole trader business. The sole trader trading as Four Rivers Development is the data controller for personal data collected through this website.

You can contact us about privacy, or anything in this notice, at [email protected]. The owner's name and a postal address are available on request by email.

The free website checker

When you use the checker, our server fetches the web address you enter and analyses that page. We use:

  • The web address you check, to run the check. We do not store it in a database. It may appear briefly in our hosting provider's technical logs.
  • Your IP address, held briefly in memory to limit how many checks one visitor can run, which protects the service from abuse. It is not stored with your results.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: providing the tool and keeping it secure.

If you choose to run the optional Google mobile test, your browser sends the address you entered directly to Google's PageSpeed Insights service, and Google's own privacy policy applies.

The enquiry form

When you send an enquiry, we collect your name, business name, email address, website and message, so we can reply and discuss your project. Our lawful basis is taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and legitimate interests in replying to business enquiries.

The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a spam-protection check, so we can tell automated submissions from real people. Turnstile may process a short-lived technical token and your IP address for that check. It does not show a puzzle unless Cloudflare needs one.

Enquiries are sent to our business mailbox by email. We delete enquiries that do not lead to work within 12 months of our last contact. If we work together, we keep client records, including correspondence and invoices, for 6 years after the end of the tax year they relate to, to meet our tax and accounting obligations, and then delete them.

We will not add you to a mailing list or share your details for marketing.

Cookies and analytics

This website does not set cookies. It stores your light or dark mode choice in your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device.

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused, cookie-free service that counts page views and basic technical details, such as browser, country and referring site, without using cookies or tracking you across other websites. We use it only to understand how this site is used. No cookies are set for analytics.

Who processes data for us

The website is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site, and which provides Cloudflare Turnstile for spam protection on the enquiry form and Cloudflare Web Analytics. Enquiries from the form are sent using Resend, an email delivery service, and our mailbox is provided by Zoho Mail. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK under appropriate safeguards.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to object to or restrict its use, and to data portability. To make a request, contact us using the details above. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
